# Write and rewrite with AI

AI writing is **off by default**. A workspace administrator turns it on in **Workspace settings → General → AI writing**. It covers drafts, reply suggestions and the Assistant for everyone in the workspace. Each member can still switch AI help off for themselves under **Your outreach**.

## What the AI can do

In the email editor:

* **Shorter**: tighten the draft
* **More natural**: make the wording sound less like a template
* **Subjects**: suggest subject lines
* **Write with AI** / **Rewrite draft**: rewrite from your own instruction
* Rewrite the opening line from the prospect's research facts only

You always edit and approve every message before it's sent.

## What the AI uses

* The prospect's research fields (what the company does, why they're relevant, notes)
* Your workspace [Business profile](/reach-book.com-docs/writing-emails/business-profile): what you sell, who it's for, why customers choose you, claims you can use, customer examples and samples of your writing

The better your business profile, the more the drafts sound like you.

## AI allowance

AI writing uses your workspace's AI allowance. One AI-written email with a revision uses about 7,000 AI tokens. See [Credits and top-ups](/reach-book.com-docs/billing/credits-and-top-ups).
